Want to reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes?  According to the February issue of the Mayo Clinic’s Women’s HealthSource, one of the benefits of routine moderate coffee consumption, and especially decaffeinated coffee, is that it seems to substantially lower the risk of developing type 2 diabetes mellitus, formerly known as adult-onset diabetes or non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM). In addition, coffee appears to reduce the risks of developing Parkinson’s disease and cardiovascular disease, while improving cognitive function in older women with a history of coffee consumption.
