Jodie Hudson wanted her 16th birthday party to be unforgettable. It was. In the increasingly popular practice of posting party locations online, the teen posted an open invitation to her birthday party, held at the family’s $8.6 million, seven-bedroom mansion in Marbella, Spain, on both Bebo and Facebook, popular Internet social networking sites. Jodie helpfully told the world that this would be “the party of the year” and that there would be “a lot of alcohol and an amazing DJ.” That was all it took. At least 400 partygoers descended like locusts on the tony Costa del Sol home, stealing jewelry valued at nearly $12,000 and half of her mother’s designer clothing. A TV and other furnishings were hurled into a swimming pool. Photographs of the merriment were posted online.

As icing on the birthday cake, rumors spread that, since the owners of the home were divorcing, it was okay to trash the house. One of mother Amanda Hudson’s friends said: “The place looked like a war zone. All the bannisters have been broken. The walls are ruined, the carpets are destroyed, furniture is broken and it is going to take months to sort out.”

While mother Amanda was present at the party, she didn’t know that it had been publicized online. By the time police arrived, much of the damage had been done. Mrs. Hudson, a Liverpool-based real estate agent, normally rents the villa out at nearly $8,000 a week during the summer, but the house is now described as being “uninhabitable.” As punishment, Miss Not-So-Pretty-in-Pink was grounded. She wrote in a Bebo entry: “I got punched by my mum for it and grounded until the summer. wat a a BITCH!” (Pajamadeen probably would have been summarily executed.)
