The Superbowl: Purple Rain

Prince, Rock 'n Roll Musician

So, let’s see. . .what was interesting at the SuperDuperGame? It rained buckets. Billy Joel still can’t sing. Prince sure can, though.

In one of the best Superbowl half-time performances we’ve seen in years and despite the never-ending rain, Prince let ’er rip, in a long set including “Let’s Go Crazy,” a “Proud Mary” segue; more than a passing nod to Jimi Hendrix in some of his guitar licks (played on a Blue Cloud); and “Purple Rain.” We’re still humming: “Hey, look me over/Tell me do you like what you see?” We sure do!

Starting in November 2006, Prince began performing on Friday and Saturday nights at the 3121 Club in the Rio All Suite Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. Tickets are an extremely reasonable $125 per person for an approximately three-hour set performed by one of the world’s top 20 guitarists. We’ve linked to an interesting review of the show, and hope we’re fortunate enough to catch this act.

Listen to some Red Hot Chili Peppers.
