Gene Simmons of Kiss Band Belittles Michael JacksonAs funeral arrangements were underway for pop star Michael Jackson, Gene Simmons, lead singer and bassist of the heavy metal group Kiss, took great pains to remind us of some of the less savory chapters in Jackson’s life. Simmons told The Canadian Press in a telephone interview from Los Angeles on Thursday that he’s sick of celebrity tributes to Jackson and wants to hear from children who accused the King of Pop of sexual molestation. (We did this already, Gene.)

Jackson was tried on multiple counts of child molestation in 2005 but was acquitted of all charges by a jury. Those close to him say that Jackson never recovered from the emotional trauma of the 2005 trial, and he never returned to his Neverland Ranch following police raids on it.

Jordan Chandler, One of Michael Jackson's Accusers, in an Undated PhotoThe pop icon settled out of court for $22 million on a similar 1993 accusation. Jordan Chandler, 13, accused the singer of molesting him, with the child’s father, Evan Chandler, tape recorded as saying: “If I go through with this, I win big-time. There’s no way I lose. I will get everything I want and they will be destroyed forever. . .Michael’s career will be over.” Jackson was reluctant to settle the case but his lawyers advised him to settle and move on. Once settlement was completed on January 1, 1994, the Chandlers stopped cooperating with police regarding criminal proceedings. Michael Jackson was never charged with any offense regarding Jordan Chandler and, citing lack of evidence, the state closed its criminal investigation.

Fifteen years later, Simmons has decided that “I want to know what that boy has to say.” In speaking of Jackson’s 1995 trial, Simmons added: “I want the kids who’ve accused him, to be blunt, of molestation, to have their say. . .I want to hear what they have to say. Not celebrities. Let’s celebrate the talent and everything later, let’s just figure out if there are any victims here. . .it’s sad that [Jackson] had this sad life and I understand, that’s horrible — Michael’s not the only victim. I want to know what these boys have to say.” Solution — read the trial transcript.

Musician Gene Simmons Doing What He Does BestSimmons and his band, which was most popular in the 1970s, are known for these contributions to American musical culture: black leather outfits; eight-inch platform heels; and “Demon” face paint for Simmons. During their grandiose stage shows. Simmons, 59, has entertained Kiss audiences by belching fire, spitting out blood and sticking out his seven-inch tongue, which developed a spin-off career of its own pleasuring women, with Simmons claiming to have slept with over 1,000 women in his lifetime. Other than his A & E TV show, Gene Simmons Family Jewels, Simmons’ other accomplishments include:

  • Supporting the foreign policies of the George W. Bush administration and the 2003 invasion of Iraq.
  • In a February 2002 interview on NPR’s Fresh Air radio show and in response to host Terry Gross’ question about Simmons claim that he’s slept with more than 1,000 women, Simmons answered: “If you want to welcome me with open arms, I’m afraid you’re also going to have to welcome me with open legs.” Simmons later refused to allow the interview to be aired; however, it was included in Gross’ 2004 book, All I Did Was Ask.
  • In a 2004 interview in Melbourne, Australia, Simmons said Islam is a “vile culture” in which women have few rights, and claimed that Islam is a threat because it wants to take over the world.

Just stick to the TV show, Gene.
